OTS: Week 3
2009-12-09 15:23:59
So week 3 of OTS got slightly better, as we were half-way to getting rid of our upper class. We really still didn't have much of any clue what was going on, but it was getting better. We had our first big academic test that week, and had a few people fail in the class. Those who failed weren't kicked out or anything, but they were already setup in a negative light and had an uphill battle to face.

OTS: Week 2
The next week we started our room inspections - which wasn't too bad but wasn't easy either. The key was getting into a routine with your roommates and not slipping up on it - people failed room inspections up through the last week there because they never got it right.
Forms were due, classes were in full swing, and what little free time we had was spent practicing drill so we could march around on our own without our Lower Flight Commanders around. It wasn't too bad; but not too good either - on the weekend we were still stuck on the OTS complex and had to be marched to/from meals.

OTS - Done-plete!
2009-10-06 16:30:09
Well, that was a long three months - but really quick at the same time. I want to preface this with a promise that more will follow in the coming weeks, as I get done with MFS and have a chance to compile what I have from the last three months into something useful to those heading to Maxwell for OTS. I arrived to OTS June 18, and really haven\'t had a chance to update this site until now (Sep 16) - which hopefully gives you an idea of how busy you are during the program. For the first month, you maybe have 15 minutes of \"personal time\" where you can quick call your wife and take a breath before you collapse from exhaustion. The remaining two months you have more time, but you use it to sleep. One thing that speaks to the excellence of the Air Force Officer Training program is that every class is different, as the staff adapts lessons learned from previous classes into the next class\' curriculum - so every persons experience is different. More to come...

Week 1
2009-10-06 16:29:49
OTS: Week One BOT Class 09-07 arrived to OTS on 9 June 2009 - just like all classes, on a tuesday. If you want any advice, get there as late as possible...you\'ll figure out why after you get there. The week is spent with typical in processing - medical checks, shots, forms, etc. Everything is crammed into as tight a window as possible so that they can begin academic instruction and start getting you towards graduation. It was a LONG week, but every night I was able to call my wife on my cell phone - an opportunity I didn\'t get when I went through boot camp on the enlisted side in 2002. It was a stressful week; we had two people drop out in the first 48 hours. One person was on the first day, and we never really met her. The other was on Friday; he just couldn\'t handle waking up at 0455 after going to bed at 2300. Thats really all there is to week one; you are in fourth-class status, so you don\'t do anything but study and get your room ready for inspection.
